Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some of the questions we most frequently receive. If you have any additional questions please email us at goldrush@goldrushnuggets.com

How do you ship?

We ship using USPS. All orders from our website have free shipping. We ship using USPS First Class, Priority, Express, and Registered Mail, as well as delivery/signature confirmation depending on the value of the package. Again, shipping is already included in the costs you see on our site.

We DO NOT ship outside the U.S. Sorry but this also includes Canada. We ship to the U.S. only.

We ship only to "Confirmed" addresses. This means that the name and address that you enter at checkout must be exactly as it appears on your credit card or PayPal account. Orders that we receive from unconfirmed addresses will be voided. This ensures a safe transaction for both buyer and seller.

What type of payment do you take?

We can take payment immediately with a credit card or through PayPal. Click on the "buy now" button beside the nugget that you want and you will have the option of paying out of your PayPal account or with a credit card. We can also take a cashier's check or bank wire transfer(required method for some of our largest nuggets). We will wait for it to clear the bank and then send your gold to you.

Note: You do not need a PayPal account to buy a nugget on this website. Simply select "Checkout" when you are ready to pay, and you can enter your credit card information as requested.

How much is shipping? Do you charge sales tax?

Shipping is FREE on everything on our website. There are no additional charges, taxes or fees, except Idaho residents must add 6% sales tax.

Do you ship outside of the USA?

We currently do NOT ship outside of the USA. Unfortunately, the laws and regulations regarding the shipment of precious metals to other countries is extremely complex and vary from country to country. Currently we will only ship to U.S. addresses.

I'm thinking about purchasing a nugget from your website. It is not marked as SOLD, but I just want to check and see if it is still available?

Generally, YES. Our website has a feature that will not allow someone to purchase a nugget if it is unavailable... so if you are able to click the "Add to Cart" button, go through the checkout process, and make the payment, then the nugget is yours!

Where are these gold nuggets from?

Our gold nuggets come from all over. Most of the gold we sell originated in Alaska and California, but occasionally we have nuggets from Oregon, Arizona, Canada, Australia and other countries all around the world. Each nugget listed will have specific information pertaining to it, including a general description of where it was found.

How are these gold nuggets found?

Prospectors use a variety of methods to unearth gold nuggets. Many of the best nuggets are found using suction dredges and modern metal detectors, but others are discovered using methods that have been used for hundreds of years, including sluice boxes and gold pans.

How are gold nuggets valued?

The value of gold nuggets varies on a lot of factors. While the spot price of gold is a good starting point to consider, many gold nuggets are worth more than spot price due to their rarity and uniqueness. Weight, shape, luster, rarity, origin, and general "eye appeal" of a nugget all play a part in the price of a gold nugget. We consider all of these variables when we price our nuggets. Check out our article titled " Gold Nugget Buying Tips" for more information about purchasing gold nuggets.

Do you sell any gold coins or bullion?

No, we only deal in natural gold nuggets, just as they were found in nature. We do not buy or sell gold coins, bullion, or any other type of gold other than natural gold.

Are your prices fair?

Our prices are based on what we feel they are worth from our experience dealing in gold nuggets. Of course, we realize that our gold nuggets are only worth what someone is willing to pay. So if you like something you see here but think it is priced too high, check back later as we will adjust our prices periodically until an item sells.

How many grams are in a ounce?

Below are some conversions for the most common weights used when measuring gold. We use grams and troy ounces as our weight measurements depending on the size of the nuggets being sold. (Remember, don't be fooled by some shady sellers who try to confuse folks by using the gr. abbreviation. Grains and grams are separate measurements. Also remember that gold is measured in troy ounces, which is different than an avoirdupous ounce.)

1 gram = 15.43 grains Troy 1.555 grams = 1 pennyweight (dwt.) 31.104 grams = 1 ounce Troy 28.35 grams = 1 ounce Avoir

24 grains = 1 pennyweight (dwt.) 20 dwt = 1 ounce Troy 12 ounces = 1 pound Troy 5760 grains = 1 pound Troy 480 grains = 1 Troy oz.

Be sure to read our article titled " Gold Nugget Buying Tips". It has a lot of good information for first time gold buyers and collectors.
